A leading Canadian City sought a Director who could oversee daily operations and be the resource and advisory person on planning and development matters. The Director would also be responsible for managing planning and development services for the City, while developing the City's vision and goals and leading staff to implement strategies aimed at growing the community. The Ravenhill Group narrowed the search down to four highly qualified candidates with varied backgrounds in planning. City officers chose the candidate with outstanding planning expertise, which filled a significant void in that City's management team.

General Manager 6000 Seat Arena

Phil B wasn't even really looking for a job when Ravenhill Group told him about an opening at this City. This municipality approached us for the second time in less than a year. Because it is government, we were required to compete for the assignment by preparing an RFP. Having won the competition, the real work began. The search, which took us from coast to coast was unique. It was begun with a long list of possible candidates (about 50). Through telephone interviews and an e-mailed questionnaire we were able to narrow the list to five possible candidates. We rated the five on a scale of 1-10 based on the clients criteria and narrowed the search to two. The finalists couldn't have been further away. The client flew two couples across the country for interviews and made their choice
